Welcome
The Strength and Conditioning Education Program will prepare undergraduate students as future practitioners to be service-driven leaders who demonstrate excellence in improving human performance, maximizing athlete safety, and mastering specific athlete’s needs. The SCEP is offered in a Christian environment led by faculty who teach and mentor with integrity, sensitivity and a commitment to excellence. The SCEP mission, goals, and expected outcomes were developed by reviewing the CASCE standards, NSCA recommendations, and current curriculum outlines with the School of Exercise and Sport Science. The SCEP will provide an innovative and dynamic curriculum that reflects a scientific basis for understanding, contemporary strength and conditioning practice, exercise testing and technique, program design, and program administration. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional careers.
The School of Exercise and Sport Science provides distinctive academic programs which prepare undergraduate and graduate students to engage in healthy behaviors and active lifestyles throughout their lives and pursue exciting careers in the dynamic sport and fitness industry. The school’s state-of-the-art Human Performance Lab offers myriad opportunities for students to participate in undergraduate and graduate-level research, and the school’s dedicated faculty members serve as both teachers and mentors to their students. All are dedicated to the mission of helping students become leaders in health professions, public and private schools, and sports-related industries, who will demonstrate service to others and model faith-informed decision-making.
The curriculum is designed to prepare students for careers in fields that lead to becoming a strength and conditioning specialist. EXSS majors also obtain the educational foundation necessary to pursue advanced graduate degrees in the Mayborn College of Health Sciences in related fields toward career preparation for a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a physician assistant, a medical professional, an athletic director, or an exercise physiologist in the field of cardiac rehabilitation to name only a few professional options. Opportunities are wide open with a degree from the School of Exercise & Sport Science!
