New Cru Orientation
ATTENTION: NEW CRU ORIENTATION (NCO) SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 9, 2025, HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ANTICIPATED WINTER WEATHER. Students registered for NCO have been contacted about what to expect for an alternate orientation -- AND how to complete required advising appointments to enroll in Spring classes. Students who were NOT registered for NCO but who plan to attend UMHB for Spring 2025 should contact their Admissions Counselor for next steps!
Welcome, future UMHB students! We’re excited for you to join the UMHB Family. Your next step is to participate in New Cru Orientation, UMHB’s official introduction to campus for incoming undergraduate students. Whether entering UMHB from high school (incoming freshmen) or from another college or university (transfer students), accepted students will have the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions at orientation to help them transition to UMHB. During orientation, students will also be advised and registered for classes. At the end of the day, students will know their course schedules for the upcoming semester!
Registering for New Cru Orientation is required for all incoming undergraduate students since orientation programming includes the required processes of meeting with an academic advisor and registering for courses for your upcoming semester at UMHB. For New Cru Orientation dates scheduled for January, virtual advising and registration appointments might become available (and will be scheduled for December); if these appointments do become available, incoming students will be contacted with additional information in late November.

NOTE: Students who are being readmitted to UMHB after 1 or more semesters away from campus ALSO need to register for New Cru Orientation. While readmitted students are not required to attend orientation, they must complete an academic advising appointment to be registered for classes. New Cru Orientation staff will reach out with additional details for coordinating the required advising and registration appointment.

New Cru Orientation VIRTUAL Orientation Date for Students Entering Fall 2025

- Virtual NCO is available for students who are unable to travel to campus for one of the on-campus dates listed above and for students who choose to attend UMHB after the final in-person session.
New Cru Orientation Dates (in-person and/or virtual) for Students Entering Spring 2026
- These dates will be announced on/around October 1, 2025
- For January NCO dates, virtual advising and registration appointments might become available (and will likely be scheduled for December 2025); if these appointments do become available, incoming students will be contacted with additional information.
Am I ready for New Cru Orientation?
If you have completed the following check list, then it’s time to register for New Cru Orientation!
- Applied and been accepted to UMHB to enter as an undergraduate student
- Paid Enrollment Deposit
- Submitted required high school and college or university transcripts, including transcripts showing proof of any dual credit earned; if attending New Cru Orientation while coursework is in progress, be sure to submit final documentation once courses have been completed

Registration
Registration for Spring and Summer 2025 New Cru Orientation session dates should open on/around February 4, 2025!
Students who submit their UMHB deposit will receive an email from Admissions with the registration link. If you have not received the registration link and have deposited, please contact UMHB Admissions at admissions@umhb.edu or (254) 295-4520.
Please Note:
The registration fee for the Spring and Summer 2025 session dates is $65.00 and is due at the time of registration. As part of the registration fee, each student receives orientation materials and a t-shirt. The "FAMILY" design visible here will be on the front of the t-shirts. Additional t-shirts may be available for purchase when registering for New Cru Orientation.
During times of year when virtual sessions are offered, students registering for a virtual session have the same registration fee to cover the cost of shipping the orientation packet and materials; virtual session attendees will not have the option of purchasing additional shirts.
Need to change or cancel your New Cru Orientation date?
If you already registered for New Cru Orientation but need to attend on a different date, please email newcru@umhb.edu with your request, and we will accommodate as session availability allows.
If you are no longer able to attend New Cru Orientation, please email newcru@umhb.edu to let us know.
