ESOL at UMHB
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) supports the mission of UMHB to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society. The mission of ESOL at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is to support and prepare international students to transition successfully into their academic degree programs by engaging students with linguistically authentic and relevant curriculum. We are committed to equipping ESOL students to communicate effectively in verbal and written English for academic purposes.
We offer three levels of study in reading, writing, listening, and oral communication skills that prepare students for the demands of their academic programs. Our instructors have training in applied linguistics and extensive experience teaching ESOL both in the U.S. and overseas. Our students come from China, India, Iraq, and Brazil, and they bring a wealth of cultural and linguistic diversity to our community.
If you have questions about ESOL, contact us using the information below. If you are interested in applying or have questions about visas, contact International Student Services.
The ESOL language program strengthens the three different aspects of academic English - listening comprehension, reading, and oral communication. These courses strengthen our language skills that enhance our lives at UMHB.
