Advising
The English Department pairs all incoming English majors with a dedicated English Faculty advisor. Advisors work diligently with students to determine the best courses to fulfill each student's individualized degree plan.
Learn MoreCurriculum
All English majors are required to take one Literary Theory course, as well as multiple courses in British Literature, American Literature, and World/Cultural Literature. A selection of Author/Period/Genre courses are offered for all majors. Students in the Teacher Certification degree plan are also required to take Creative Writing and Advanced Skills.
All English majors must also take the following professional development courses: Intro to the Major/Prof Issues, Internship, Capstone/Senior Seminar.
Distinctive Learning Experiences
All English majors are encouraged to take advantage of the many distinctive learning experiences offered through the program. Opportunities include:
- Multiple Study Abroad trips
- Including a bi-annual English Study Abroad May Minimester
- Undergraduate Research
- Student Publications
- Workshops/Festivals/Speaker Series
- Participation in English-specific Student Organizations
