Welcome to the School of Exercise & Sport Science!
We are the second-largest academic discipline at UMHB. Our faculty and staff have a commitment to prepare you for a professional career through excellent innovations in teaching, relevant scholarly research, applied science in our human performance lab and diverse vocational internships.
We are dedicated to increasing the understanding of the role of sport in society. We believe it is vital to the overall wellness of our society to help people learn the importance of a personal commitment to fitness, as well as following proper nutrition guidelines. We strive to provide all students with a greater understanding of assessment, prevention, prescription and the physiological basis for a lifetime of physical fitness and an overall healthy lifestyle.
The School of EXSS is comprised of seven undergraduate divisions: Health Science (Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, and Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Medicine, and Pre-Chiropractic), Exercise Physiology, Public Health, Sport Management, Strength & Conditioning Education Program, EC-12 Teaching Physical Education, and the Exercise Activity Course Program which supports the UMHB Academic Core. Additionally, EXSS has three graduate divisions: Master of Public Health(online) MS in Exercise Physiology and a MS in Sport Administration (online).

The mission of the School of Exercise & Sport Science is to prepare professionals through excellence in teaching, research and service, promoting a commitment to healthy behaviors and active lifestyles across the lifespan. The school strives to meet an increasing demand for highly educated professionals capable of a broad range of careers in the health science, educational, performance and sport industries.
