The American Southwest Conference recently announced a 10-year agreement that will see McMurry University and Schreiner University leave the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rejoining the ASC. This move will bring the conference to six total members allowing the conference champion an automatic bid to NCAA championships.
This move comes after a year of uncertainty after the league lost six of its members to the SCAC and Division 2 which brought the total number of teams to four going into the 2025-2026 academic year.
In a statement given through the ASC website commissioner David Flores says that he is proud of the institutions long term commitment to the ASC.
"I'm proud of the faithful leadership of our member institution presidents for their commitment to focus on the long-term future of the Conference," said Flores. "The addition of these two respected institutions, located squarely in the membership footprint, will ensure continuity and enhanced success of the American Southwest Conference."
Schriner and McMurry will officially make the move back to the ASC in the 2026-27 academic year.
