Head baseball Coach Mike Stawski is a busy man between coaching college athletes, recruiting, sponsoring FCA and raising three kids. With all of that he still has time to enjoy some of his hobbies like golf.
Stawski has been golfing for a number of years, tracking all the way back to his own college baseball days. “I picked up golf in college and I have enjoyed the sport ever since. It's a great way to relieve stress with friends and other coaches alike,” Stawski said.
The amount of time he golfs varies with a busy spring and a month-long fall season packed with baseball but the coach says he tries to golf at least once a week.
“I try and fit in at least 18 holes a week to keep my game sharp and to focus on something other than baseball,” said Stawski An interesting aspect to Stawski’s hobby is that many players on the Cru baseball team also play golf, and according to Stawski it is a great way to connect with his players.
“Many players on the team golf so it comes up often during practice and sometimes players will come up to my office just to talk about how they shot,’ Stawski said.
As much as he enjoys golf, it is not his main focus. “I definitely make sure my family comes first, then it’s my job, and if I complete all my prior priorities I will get on the course and let off some steam,” said Stawski
