Beta Beta Beta

Serving UMHB since 2005, we are the Mu Eta Beta chapter of Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta), a national biological honor society. Our activities are designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences. TriBeta provides support for active members to attend professional science conferences every school year. We also sponsor the annual Biology Majors Picnic each fall.

Dues and membership requirements:

All members must be in good academic standing to participate in any student organization.

Regular member

• Complete 12 hours of undergraduate biology
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA of all biology courses
• One-time fee of $50, which is forwarded to the national TriBeta office and provides lifetime membership in Tribeta at the national level

Associate member

• Option for students who want to participate in TriBeta activities, but do not yet meet the requirements for Regular membership.
• One-time fee of $40, which is forwarded to the national TriBeta office and provides lifetime membership in Tribeta at the national level
• When they become eligible, Associate members can upgrade to Regular membership for a one-time fee of $10, which is forwarded to the national TriBeta office.

Local member

• Open to any student in good academic standing who wants to participate in TriBeta activities, but is not yet ready to pay for Regular or Associate membership

Local dues of $10 are required every semester, but are waived in the semester that a member pays either $40 or $50 in national dues.
