Student Life
These plans are based on federal, state, and local regulations and guidance available at this time, as well as public health recommendations. As the situation with COVID-19 is fluid, they are subject to change.
Campus Activities
Knowing how important socializing is to the college experience, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will create as many options as possible for in-person activities, but with safety in mind. Social distancing of at least 6 feet, properly wearing face coverings, frequent hand washing/sanitation, and cough/sneeze etiquette are important protocols that will be incorporated into student activities.
At this time, indoor large-group gatherings will not be held. The protocols for large outdoor gatherings will be determined on a case -by-case basis and in alignment with state and local health guidance.
Clubs and organizations will be expected to hold events that follow the guidelines set forth by state and local health officials. In many instances, these meetings and activities will be held virtually to allow as many students as possible to participate.
Campus Recreation and Intramurals
A student’s well-being is impacted by many factors, including physical and social well-being. While not all intramural events will occur this Spring, Campus Recreation will continue to provide some in-person and virtual opportunities for students to workout, play, and compete in friendly and safe ways.
Strategies such as “touchless check-in” for intramural games, sanitized and rotated sports equipment, fewer team members on the field, more single sport offerings, and other rule changes will enable students to stay active, meet new friends, and have fun.
In addition, the Campus Recreation Office will be expanding its virtual menu programs, including Intramural Esports and Virtual Fitness offerings.
