I am getting ready to graduate. What do I need to do?
- STEP 1: Complete an Application for Degree and pay fee by October 15th for Fall Graduation, March 15th for Spring Graduation and June 15th for Summer Graduation
- Link to Application for Degree and Fee
- No rehearsal will be held. Graduates will be sent a link to an instructional video that will cover all the pertinent details of the ceremony.
- STEP 2: Finish Strong
- Complete the courses for your final semester
- Make sure you get all incomplete grades completed
- Official Transcripts from other universities are filed in the Registrar’s Office. If you owe the Registrar’s Office official transcripts or test scores, turn them in as soon as possible. Failure to do so may result in your graduation date being moved to a later date.
- STEP 3: Satisfy all financial obligations
- Check with the Financial Aid Office to be sure all requirements have been met
- Check with Bursar’s Office to be sure all fees have been paid
- Students must settle all accounts in order to be eligible to participate in commencement exercises. UMHB may restrict students from participating in commencement for failure to make complete payment of student accounts.
- STEP 4: Purchase Cap & Gown
- Regalia and invitations may be obtained at the campus bookstore prior to Commencement.
- Be sure to give yourself enough time to press/iron the gown before the ceremony.
- Frequently asked questions:
- Students should dress in appropriate attire that aligns with UMHB dress code under their academic regalia.
- Students are allowed to decorate their mortarboards as long as they remain within the UMHB Christian values.
- Only UMHB approved cords may be worn as part of your regalia.
- Honor sashes will be given out on the day of graduation when you check in.
