Curriculum Vitae (Résumé)
Dr. Hackney joined the Scott & White School of Nursing at UMHB in 2010 and has served as a full-time faculty member and administrator. Her professional experience includes over 30 years as a psychiatric-mental health and maternal-child nurse. She has worked with adolescents in residential treatment, with adults experiencing major mental illness including chemical dependency, and well as managing a rural partial hospitalization program for senior adults. She has also worked in women's health services including labor & delivery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and gynecological postoperative care. Dr. Hackney is certified as an academic nurse educator by the National League for Nursing.
Before returning full-time to the classroom in 2022, Dr. Hackney served as Associate Dean of the Scott & White School of Nursing during the 2017-2018 academic year, Interim Dean during the 2018-2019 academic year, and Dean during the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 academic years. Dr. Hackney serves as a member of the Texas Nurses Association (TNA) Nursing Education and Workforce Committee. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Nurses Christian Fellowship, American Nurses Association, and the National League for Nursing. She has presented at state and national conferences and has publications in both national and international nursing journals. Dr. Hackney's Ed.D. from UMHB included a specialization in Leadership in Nursing Education Administration. Her dissertation research investigated the relationship between nursing students' intrinsic motivation and performance on the licensure examination. She is an active member of First Baptist Church - Temple, where she serves with the First Impressions team. She has facilitated prayer workshops at UMHB chapel and various women's retreats in the Austin area.
