Dr. King came to the UMHB in 1993 as Chairperson of the Computer and Information Sciences Department. While chair he taught over 20 different courses in the department and saw the department grow from 25 students to over 300 students. He became Dean of the McLane College of Business in March, 2000. Since 2000, the College of Business has intiated goals to address the integration of Christian Principles, leadership fundamentals, practical experiences and sound business concepts within a global context. In Summer 2009 Dr. King was appointed the first Coordinator of the UMHB Study Abroad Program. On June 1, 2012, Dr. King stepped down as Dean of the McLane College of Business to become the inaugural Dean of Global Engagement at UMHB. He enjoys traveling with students and family and exposing them to the world and cultures around them. He has visited Morocco, Tunisia, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, China, Bhutan, India, Thailand and Peru. Dr. King's Ph.D. from U.T.-Arlington included a disseration field of Information Systems, major fields in Management Science and Research, and minor fields in Management and Finance. His M.B.A. at Baylor specialized in Management and Management Information Systems. His B.B.A. majors were in Accounting and Quantitative Business Analysis. Dr. King was in retail before he entered academia in 1980. Dr. King currently consults in business process and systems integration and micro-enterprise development/entrepreneurship in developing countries.
