Dr. David Chrisman: He is the chair of the Department of History and Political Science after coming to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2000. Dr. Chrisman served UMHB as the assistant professor from 2000 to 2004, as an associate professor from 2004 to 2007, and now serves as a professor. Dr. Chrisman came to UMHB after teaching for seven years at East Texas Baptist University. At UMHB, his responsibilities include the majority of American history courses, with specialization in Texas history, the American South, and American cultural and religious history. He received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2001, studying under the late Robert A. Calvert before finishing degree requirements under Walter Buenger. His M.A. and B.A. in history are from Baylor University. He also spent a year of post-graduate study at the University of North Texas. Originally born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Chrisman now resides in Belton. He has been a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas, Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco, and Meadow Oaks Baptist Church in Temple. He is married to Julie Frierson Chrisman and they have three children, Katelyn Anne, Cole David, and Chase Keith.
