Dr. Craig Hammonds has lived and served as an educator in Texas and Washington State. He received his Associate in Arts & Science degree from Lower Columbia College; his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University; his Master in Teaching degree from City University of Seattle; and his Doctor of Education degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Dr. Hammonds worked for 13 years in public education as teacher and administrator. He joined the faculty at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2011 and currently serves as Dean and Professor in the College Education. Dr. Hammonds has authored and co-authored articles found in Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, Instructional Leader, Insight, and The Texas Forum of Teacher Education. He also co-authored the books Professional Development for School Leaders and Trust and Verify: The Real Keys to School Improvement. Dr. Hammonds has presented at numerous state, regional, national and international conferences. He has served on the ad hoc communications committee for the Texas Elementary Principals & Supervisors Association, as a public school representative board member for the Texas Association of Teacher Educators, and as a Developing Disciplinary Literacy Consultant with the University of Texas. Dr. Hammonds currently serves on the resolutions committee for the Association of Teacher Educators. He is a member of the Council of Professors of Instructional Supervision, International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement, Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Association of Teacher Educators. He served six years as a Principal Investigator with Project mNET through The Ohio State University. Dr. Hammonds’ professional goal is to serve the field of education through quality leadership, research and instruction. Areas of professional interest for Dr. Hammonds include: succession management; sustainable leadership; leadership recruitment and development, teacher preparation; educator trust and motivation; and campus administration.

Dr. Hammonds and his wife Megan were married in 1999 and have two daughters, Mylie and Chloe. The Hammonds live in Belton, Texas where they worship and serve at First Baptist Church. Dr. Hammonds enjoys sporting events, running, mountain biking, and spending time with family and friends.
