Verification of Non-tax Filing Letter
If you did not file a tax return, the Department of Education requires you to submit, to the financial aid office, a Verification of Non-tax Filing letter that is provided from the IRS.
Below are available options for acquiring the letter from the IRS:
- Online Request
- Note: This is typically not available if you have never filed taxes before in prior years. If this is the case, please use the paper request process detailed below.
- Click “Get Transcript by MAIL.”
- You will request a transcript and they will generate letter if the transcript is not available.
- Click “Get Transcript ONLINE” (If at any point, you cannot validate your identity – for example, you cannot provide financial verification information or you lack access to a mobile phone).
- You will request a transcript and they will generate letter if the transcript is not available.
- Click “Get Transcript by MAIL.”
