Why study church music at UMHB?
As one of the two oldest Baptist institutions in the state of Texas, UMHB has a strong tradition in Christian music as well in Christian studies. Church music students who participate in choral ensembles have opportunities to participate in choir tours, performing in churches across the U.S. and abroad as well.
There are ample opportunities to serve as a student conductor in campus choral groups and instrumental ensembles, which gives church music students the chance to direct large groups in the playing or singing of music. The music for weekly Chapel presentations is also student-led, giving you additional ways to use your vocal or instrumental talents in a worship setting.
