BELTON, Texas—The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's (UMHB) College of Visual and Performing Arts has a robust calendar of events this spring. All performances take place in the Baugh Performance Hall in the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center, and tickets are required to attend.
Next week, guest artists Stiletto Brass Quintet perform on Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. Stiletto Brass Quintet features five highly accomplished women from the U.S. with careers spanning the fields of orchestral, wind band, and brass chamber music. Its energetic and diversified repertoire includes avant-garde compositions written by leading composers of our time and classical and popular works from the Baroque period to Gershwin. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 6–18, and seniors 65 and older. Children five and under are free, and free tickets are available with a UMHB Cru Card.
On Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m., the university welcomes The StepCrew to the stage. The StepCrew combines three styles of exhilarating dance forms – Ottawa Valley Stepdance, Irish Stepdance, and tap. With virtuosic dancers and musicians from the likes of The Chieftains, Cherish The Ladies, and Bowfire, this cast of outstanding talent takes you on a dance journey. The StepCrew also boasts three world-class fiddlers backed by an amazing five-piece ensemble comprising some of the most talented and respected musicians in today's Celtic music scene. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 6–18, and seniors 65 and older. Children five and under are free, and free tickets are available with a UMHB Cru Card.
To wrap up the spring semester, UMHB presents The Little Prince, A Magical Opera on Friday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12 at 2:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. Based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's beloved children's book, this magical production invites audiences to experience an unforgettable journey of friendship, love, and imagination. The story follows the voyage of a young prince traveling from his tiny home planet, B-612, across the universe. Along the way, he meets various thought-provoking characters on different planets, each teaching him valuable life lessons. Families are encouraged to bring their little explorers to experience this heartwarming performance. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under, and seniors 65 and older. Free tickets are available with a UMHB Cru Card.
The community is also invited to UMHB Wind Ensemble concerts on Friday, February 28 and Friday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m., and a UMHB One Voice and Concert Choir concert on Thursday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. These events are free, and no ticket is required to attend.
