BELTON, Texas—On Saturday, Aug. 6, as part of this year's Welcome Week, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor students participated in Love CTX. The annual event is designed for students to discover service opportunities and to grow closer to their Cru Groups through serving the community.
This year's Love CTX supported One More Child, which is dedicated to providing Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families. Approximately 350 UMHB students packed 18,000 meals and wrote notes for Belton ISD students.
“We love partnering with One More Child and that all of our new students have this chance to help the Belton ISD community,” said Katy Hartt, UMHB’s associate director of Student Organizations. “We’re so thankful we have this great opportunity.”
The meals will go to Belton ISD’s Project Heartbeat program to help students who may not have food at home.
“This is a huge blessing. Our students experience homelessness and poverty,” explained Christina Wilson of Belton ISD’s Project Heartbeat. “Some kids take these meals home every night, because that’s all they’re going to get to eat.”
