BELTON, Texas—The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) is excited to encourage students, the campus community, and others who interact with the institution to Live On Purpose. This rally cry is evident throughout the university’s new signage and messaging as the campus prepares to welcome students this week for the fall semester.
“At UMHB, we know a student’s college experience is about much more than earning a degree. We believe everyone is called to a life of purpose. That’s why we’re here – so students can discover and live out all they were created to be and do,” said UMHB’s VP for Advancement, Dr. Rebecca O’Banion.
To Live On Purpose means to be intentional, focused, and self-assured. It means confidently going out into the world and living the lives we have been called to live.
“The Bible makes it clear that our purpose is to glorify God in all we do. And that is why UMHB is so special.” O’Banion added, “We are a place and a people who live with purpose, on purpose!”
The journey to establish Live On Purpose as UMHB’s new rally cry began in 2021 when the university partnered with a branding firm to research, update, and solidify the UMHB brand. Through hundreds of surveys, focus groups, and workshops with diverse constituent groups, the university learned that a brand is your story and the stories that get told about you.
“By telling UMHB’s unique story, we will create opportunities for connections with a variety of audiences,” said O’Banion. “For 177 years, UMHB has equipped students for purposeful lives that honor God. UMHB has and will always prepare students for lives of leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.”
