Belton, Texas -- Miss Student Foundation, Shayden Spradley, was named Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor 2023 on Saturday, October 22, in the annual Miss MHB Pageant held in W.W. Walton Chapel. Spradley is a junior Transformational Development major from Belton, Texas. She is the daughter of Bobby and Mindy Spradley. Spradley is involved in Student Government Association, Student Foundation, and Hope for the Hungry. Her personal platform is “Providing Special Needs Families with Community Connections.”
The reigning Miss MHB, Samantha Cardenas, crowned Spradley at the end of the evening’s contest. Also recognized were the fourth runner-up, Jessica Jorczak, Miss Nursing Student Association; the third runner-up Yanelle Licona, Miss Hispanic Student Association; the second runner-up Jenna Kurburski, Miss Gamma Sigma Epsilon; and first runner-up, Ella Stockton, Miss Healthy Minds.
A few other awards were given out during Saturday’s event. Miss Remschel Hall, Madalyn Georgens was recognized as the evening’s Best Talent for her rendition of “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman. Miss Student Government Association, Katieana Amponsah, won Best Evening Gown, Miss Independence Village, Kenedee Pladies was awarded Best Interview, and Miss Student Foundation, Shayden Spradley was recognized as Miss Congeniality.
The Miss MHB Pageant recognizes young women who demonstrate self-confidence, personality, and inner beauty. Each of the evening’s 18 competitors represented a campus organization or residence hall. All contestants participated in individual interviews, a group dance number, talent presentations, and an evening gown stroll. In addition, the women were called on to talk about their individual platforms, highlighting issues of particular concern to them.
