BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) is honored to welcome pastor and syndicated Christian broadcaster Dr. Tony Evans as the featured speaker for the 2022 McLane Lecture on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. in the arena of the Frank & Sue Mayborn Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Tony Evans is the long-time pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas and founder and president of The Urban Alternative. He is a prolific speaker and author, having published over 150 books, booklets, and Bible studies. The first African American to earn a Doctor of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, he has been named one of the “12 Most Effective Preachers in the English-Speaking World” by Baylor University.
Dr. Evans also holds the honor of writing and publishing the first full-Bible commentary and study Bible by an African American. His radio broadcast, The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans, can be heard on more than 1,400 US outlets daily and in more than 130 countries.
Dr. Evans launched the Tony Evans Training Center (TETC) in 2017, an online learning platform providing quality seminary-style courses for a fraction of the cost to any person in any place. The TETC currently has over 40 courses from which to choose and has over 2,000 students enrolled. He is the former chaplain of the Dallas Cowboys and served as chaplain of the Dallas Mavericks for more than 30 years, the longest-standing NBA chaplaincy on record.
