Belton, Texas – On Tuesday, Februrary 25, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Visual and Performing Arts will host a special event entitled The Dean’s Series: The Bible Project. This event will feature work by UMHB Associate Professor and ceramicist David Hill. It begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Fikes Chamber Hall of the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center. This event is free and open to the public.
Hill will show examples of work that he has made over the last decade and discuss how faith has influenced his art throughout his career. The focus of the presentation is Hill's current work in progress, The Bible Project, a composition consisting of 66 sculptural wall tiles that highlight each individual book of the Bible and present them as part of the over-arching gospel story. When completed, the work will be installed at Vista Community Church in Temple.
Hill began teaching at the UMHB in 2012. He primarily teaches ceramics classes and assists in advising senior art majors as they complete their capstone exhibitions. He earned a BFA in Studio Art from Shorter College in 2005 and an MFA in Visual Arts from Clemson University in 2010. He regularly exhibits his artwork throughout the United States and Canada.
