Belton, Texas - UMHB Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff,
I am appalled by the tragic death of George Floyd last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a Christian university, we lament the frequency of these events and join other Christians in reaffirming the preciousness of all life before our Creator.
Racism is a sin against God and against our fellow citizens. As part of our mission, “We respect each student as a unique individual who has a distinct perspective on the world. Therefore, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds and understand that exposure to different cultures and experiences within a Christian environment enriches the educational process.”
We are committed to educating students in a Christian environment to build a better society and a more welcoming world. We echo the prayer of the prophet Amos who cried out to God for “justice to roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream.”
