Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is excited to announce that Dr. Michele Hackney has accepted the position of Dean of the Scott & White School of Nursing. Dr. Hackney served as interim Dean during the 2019 academic year and served as Associate Dean in both 2017 and 2018.
Hackney has been a member of the UMHB faculty for nearly 9 years. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University with a specialization in Nursing Education and a Doctorate in Education from UMHB. She also holds certification as a nurse educator (CNE) from the National League for Nursing.
Hackney previously served on the faculty of Austin Community College, and she is active in the professional nursing community. She serves as Executive Committee Member and Secretary of the Texas Organization of Deans and Directors of Professional Nursing Programs. She is also a member of the Texas Organization of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Education, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, and Nurses Christian Fellowship. She also serves as a member of the advisory committee of the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses and as the Vice-President on the Board of Directors for the Christian Farms Treehouse.
Hackney has also served on UMHB’s Institutional Review Board, Chair, BSN Curriculum Committee, and Campus Master Plan Committee.
