Belton, Texas – On Saturday, October 12, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor marked the completion of its new Soccer and Tennis Field House. The facility was open to the public from noon to 5:00 p.m. Prior to the public opening, there was a preview event for donors to the building and members of the soccer and tennis teams.
Roughly 300 people attended the preview event. They gathered around the entrance to the Soccer and Tennis Field House, where Tucker Glaske, Director of Development at UMHB, said a few words. Glaske organized The Campaign for the Soccer and Tennis Field House and worked with alumni from all three athletic programs to raise funds for the new facility. To date, the campaign has raised nearly $385,000 towards the cost of the building.
Brad Bankhead, head coach of the men’s soccer team, also addressed the crowd. He asked those former players in attendance to remember the humbler beginnings of the programs.
“Some of you remember changing into your uniforms in your car,” Bankhead said, gesturing to the new building behind him. “We’re standing on all of your shoulders.”
