Belton, Texas – On Thursday, November 1, the president of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the chancellor of Central Texas College gave their official approval to a plan that will help students continue their studies at UMHB after completing their associate’s degree from CTC. Dr. Randy O’Rear, president of UMHB, and Chancellor Jim Yeonopolus of Central Texas College took part in a signing ceremony to mark the completion of a new memorandum of understanding between the neighboring institutions.
Assisting in the ceremony were Dr. John Vassar, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at UMHB, and Rudy Sandoval, director of government and community relations at CTC.
“UMHB and CTC have worked cooperatively for many years to identify CTC courses that would fulfill degree requirements at UMHB,” said Vassar. “Since curriculums change over time, it is good to stop periodically and study which courses are still aligned and where adjustments need to be made. By analyzing the content of the freshman- and sophomore-level courses offered at both schools, we can now offer students a pathway of courses at CTC that will fulfill degree requirements when they transfer to UMHB to complete a bachelor’s degree. CTC students can be confident that by following this agreement, the courses they take will transfer to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.”
