Belton, Texas – The week of October 14-19 is Missions Emphasis Week at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Every year, missionaries from around the world travel to the UMHB campus to connect with students and each other. The week features a variety of activities and seminars.
Missions Emphasis Week promotes global awareness, relationships, opportunities, and service. Visitors have the opportunity to meet missionaries, learn about global challenges and trends, and widen their perspectives of missions.
One of the exciting events this year was World Tour, which offered a taste of culture shared by missionaries from around the globe. While the original plan was to hold World Tour in Millennium Oaks Park, poor weather pushed it indoors. Visitors moved around the McLane Great Hall in the Bawcom Student Union, visiting stations representing different mission fields. Each booth offered lessons in the language, culture, and ministry.
Missions Emphasis Week seminars are held in the Bawcom Student Union and lead by missionaries. During the week, a missions fair was open in the second floor lobby of the student union. The fair features tables representing a variety of ministries and service opportunities in the United States and around the world. The Student Organizations Conference Room was also converted into a prayer room for the duration of the week. There were also several praise and worship and fellowship events held during the week.
