Belton, Texas –On Thursday, February 1, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Visual and Performing Arts will host a Highways and Byways concert by Louisiana singer-songwriter, Marc Broussard. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Baugh Performance Hall of the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
Drawing vocal and stylistic influence from Otis Redding and Dr. John, Broussard’s music is best described as "Bayou Soul,” a mix of funk, blues, R&B, rock, and pop, matched with distinct Southern roots. The son of Boogie Kings guitarist Ted Broussard, he was destined for the life of a traveling music man. His upbringing in Carencro, Louisiana, instilled in him an affinity for R&B alongside the Cajun trappings of southern Louisiana.
Broussard has released eight studio albums and one live album. His work has charted twice on Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks. He tours regularly and has shared the stage with everyone from Maroon 5 and the Dave Matthews Band to Willie Nelson and Bonnie Raitt.
