Belton, Texas – On Tuesday, August 14, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor held its annual university assembly. Faculty and staff members from across campus gathered in anticipation of the coming school year. Heath Peloquin, a UMHB graduate and Director of Missions of the North Texas Baptist Association, was the guest speaker for the event.
To kick off the assembly, Dr. Steve Theodore, Senior Vice President for Administration, offered a few insights into the upcoming semester. This year’s fall enrollment appears to be on track to hit a record high for the tenth consecutive year. Moreover, the incoming freshman class is set to shatter last year’s record of 754 by more than 125 students.
Peloquin took to the stage and shared his initial uncertainty of what message to bring to the staff and faculty of his alma mater. Ultimately, he decided that he wanted to use the opportunity to thank his audience and the institution they represent.
“I want to thank you for your commitment to students like me,” Peloquin said. “I found a home and a group of people who cared deeply about me as a person.”
