Belton, Texas – On Monday, November 27, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Wind Ensemble will present its second performance of the 2017-2018 season, “American Portrait,” at 7:30 p.m. in the Baugh Performance Hall of the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center on the UMHB campus. The performance is free and open to the public.
The program will feature works by composers Steven Bryant, Scott McAllister, Henry Fillmore, Leonard Bernstein, Peter Mennin, and Aaron Copland. "Lincoln Portrait," Copland's musical depiction of Abraham Lincoln, will be the cornerstone of the program. Joining the Wind Ensemble as the narrator for the presentation of "Lincoln Portrait" will be George Hogan, Director of Opera and Musical Theatre.
This concert qualifies as a Fine Arts Experience (FAE) credit for UMHB students. The Fine Arts Experience program is designed to help students gain an appreciation for the fine arts in many forms during their time on campus. To this end, students are required to attend at least one designated Fine Arts Experience event each semester.
