Belton, Texas –The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will present the twenty-fifth annual Crusader Knights contest on Saturday, February 25, in the W. W. Walton Chapel on the UMHB campus at 7:00 p.m.
The theme for this year’s Crusader Knights is “A Night at the Oscars.” The event is open to the public, and tickets may be purchased at the event. Tickets for the public cost $10. UMHB student and alumni tickets are available for just $5.
The contest determines who will represent the university as Mr. Crusader Knight 2017. Various campus organizations sponsor contestants. The program will include music, dancing, and humorous videos that have been produced by each of the contestants. The winner will be crowned and dubbed Mr. Crusader Knight by President Randy O’Rear. The director of this year’s contest is Ryan Quinn of Magnolia. His assistant directors are Chaz Corder of Belton, Kelsey McDaniel of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Mary Claire Walzel of Burnet.
As a senior, McDaniel has been involved with Crusader Knights in some capacity each of her four years on campus. She describes Crusader Knights as being one of the two best events on campus.
“The best word for it is fun,” McDaniel said. “You can really see each of the guys’ personalities through all their hard work and see how much they have bonded with each other in a brotherly way.”
