Belton, Texas – Dr. Carol Crawford Holcomb was awarded the Baptist History and Heritage Society’s W. O. Carver Distinguished Service Award during the society’s annual meeting in June. The award recognizes individuals who have exhibited rare and unusual dedication to the cause of Baptist history through writing, teaching, denominational service, archival and library development, and historical center and society work on national and state levels.
Dr. Holcomb is Professor of Christian Studies at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where she has taught since 1999. A presenter at Baptist conferences throughout America, Holcomb has published articles in Baptists Today, The Whitsitt Journal, Journal of Texas Baptist History, and other publications. In 2001 the Baptist History and Heritage Society honored her with the Norman W. Cox Award for the best article published in Baptist History and Heritage Journal, and she served as president of the society 2005-2007.
