Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will host acclaimed classical guitarist Joseph Palmer in a special concert at 4:30 p.m. in the Manning Chapel of the Meyer Christian Studies Building on the UMHB campus. Palmer will also hold a masterclass following the performance. Both the concert and class are free and open to the public.
This concert qualifies as a Fine Arts Experience (FAE) credit for UMHB students. The Fine Arts Experience program is designed to help students gain an appreciation for the fine arts in many forms during their time on campus. To this end, students are required to attend at least one designated Fine Arts Experience event each semester.
Palmer has been awarded prizes in sixteen international competitions. As Austin Classical Guitar's Community Engagement Artist, he has given nearly a hundred interactive concerts to underserved communities and is a passionate advocate for music's potential to inspire and transform.
Palmer’s concert will feature music by Rochberg, Rodrigo, Scarlatti, and more.
