Belton, Texas – On Friday, October 13, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will celebrate the dedication of the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will begin at 1:00 p.m. in front of the new building on the corner of North Pearl Street and West Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
The short program will include remarks by President Randy O’Rear and Ted Barnes, dean of the College of Visual & Performing Arts. Following a prayer of dedication and the ceremonial ribbon cutting, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the facility and learn about its unique features from some of the students who will be performing in the center in the days to come.
The Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center is a 40,725-square-foot building; the highlight of the center is the 525-seat Baugh Performance Hall, which features a proscenium stage, fly space, and orchestra pit. The design of the center includes multifunctional rooms which allow it to be used as a teaching facility as well as a venue for musical and theatrical performances. Through the support of generous alumni and friends of the university, the $20 million building was completed debt-free.
