Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor presents the 8th Annual Festival of Lessons and Carols on Friday, December 1, in the Manning Chapel of the Meyer Christian Studies Center on the UMHB campus. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be offered both at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m.
Modeled after the very first Festival of Lessons and Carols that was presented at Cambridge University on Christmas Eve in 1918, UMHB’s ceremony is a worship service retelling the Christmas story through Scripture and song. It features UMHB’s Concert Choir and various faculty members reading Scripture.
Seating in Manning Chapel is limited, so early arrival is recommended. Due to the meditative nature of this event, it is generally not recommended for young children.
This concert qualifies as a Fine Arts Experience (FAE) credit for UMHB students. The Fine Arts Experience program is designed to help students gain an appreciation for the fine arts in many forms during their time on campus. To this end, students are required to attend at least one designated Fine Arts Experience event each semester.
