Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will hold its 171st Fall Convocation service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, in the arena of the Mayborn Campus Center on the UMHB campus. The event, which inaugurates the official opening of the new academic school year, is free and open to the public.
Dr. Leroy Kemp will be the guest speaker during the service. Kemp retired from UMHB in April after serving more than three decades as a teacher. He has also worked as pastor or interim pastor of more than a dozen local churches. The title of his address is “Let’s Celebrate.”
The event will also feature performances by a brass quintet and the One Voice ensemble. The annual ceremony will also include a few new elements designed to celebrate the university’s growth and diversity.
