Rose Morales ’00 has been named the new Alumni Board president, and she couldn’t be more excited.
The 2000 graduate said when she heard she was being considered for the opportunity she “was ecstatic!”
“I could not believe that I, Rose Torres Morales, originally from Mission, Texas, first-generation graduate, would have the amazing privilege of serving my university in this capacity,” she said. “I feel so honored to be the next alumni board president, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue growing as a leader and making more memories at UMHB.”
She said “yes” to the opportunity because of her love, dedication and passion for her alma mater.
“I want to be a part of the great things that are happening at UMHB by making connections with students, staff, alumni, future Crusaders and community members,” she said.
Morales takes the helm from Justin Gaidusek ’04 who served as Alumni Board president for the last six years (two terms).
As president, Morales said first and foremost she wants to continue to see Christ being the center of the university. She also looks forward to working with other alumni and finding ways to keep engaged.
“I hope to see more people connect, give and serve. UMHB is truly a place where we create a family because, after all, we are Crusaders Forever!”
Morales received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UMHB and has been working as a first-grade teacher at Leon Heights Elementary School in Belton.
When she first came to UMHB in 1996, she said she immediately felt the love in this community.
“I felt the Lord’s presence on this beautiful campus,” said Morales. “UMHB truly is my home and my family. I admire the atmosphere here and cherish the community, and I love to be involved as much as I can. I am very proud to be a UMHB graduate.”
She and her husband, Tony, a 2002 graduate, are some of UMHB’s biggest fans, she says.
“We had great professors, met lifelong friends, and have great jobs because of it. We became Crusaders forever and love to live it out. God knew what He was doing when He led us to UMHB!”
