For many, working in one of the top technology “MANGA” companies (Meta/Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google and Apple) in the world would be a dream come true. But for one alumnus, he has worked at three— Facebook, Amazon, and Netflix.
Adrian Beard ’12 first worked at Facebook as a program manager in global marketing and sales. Toward the end of his third year, he began looking for new opportunities and accepted a role with Amazon as a technical product manager. Next, he worked at Netflix as a lead project manager for content and product localization where he was responsible for more than 40 vendors working in 38 languages to create subtitles, marketing materials, and trailers.
“I enjoyed this work because there were new challenges and problems to solve every day,” said Beard, who graduated from UMHB in 2012 with his Bachelor of Science degree in information systems. “There was a constant flow of new material and content that we needed to complete to meet the deadlines.”
A couple years ago, though, Netflix decided it was moving away from remote roles, which was how Adrian worked for the company. Since Netflix has no corporate offices in Texas, he was forced to either relocate his family to Los Angeles or find a new job. Wanting to stay in Texas, he once again went to work at Facebook, back to where his journey with the three massive tech companies began.
“My role at Facebook is managing global quality programs in the global operations team,” he said, adding that his programs cover groups across commerce, business integrity, community operations, and many others.
