Engineering Summer Bridge Program
Get Ahead, Stay Ahead: Unlock Your Engineering Potential!
Engineering at UMHB is exciting, challenging, and rewarding—but it requires strong math and science skills to succeed. To help you start your journey with confidence, we’ve created the Engineering Summer Bridge Program, designed specifically for incoming first-year students who want to thrive in their first year and beyond.
If you're ready to get a head start, build lifelong connections, and strengthen your math and engineering skills, this program is for you!
Why Join the Engineering Summer Bridge Program?
1. Accelerate Your Math Skills
- Math readiness is the #1 predictor of engineering success.
- You’ll get focused instruction to help you master the skills needed for engineering.
- Retake the ALEKS math placement test for a chance to place directly into a higher-level math class, saving time and money.
2. Get Hands-On with Engineering
- Explore the basics of engineering through exciting, real-world projects.
- Work with tools in the UMHB Makerspace to build, create, and problem-solve like an engineer.
3. Save Time, Save Money
- Placing into Calculus I could eliminate the need for a semester-long pre-calculus course, keeping you on the 4-year graduation track.
- The program costs less than a semester of pre-calculus and could potentially shorten your college career by a semester or more.
4. Build a Support Network
- Meet other incoming engineering students and form friendships before the semester even starts.
- Connect with experienced UMHB engineering students who will mentor and guide you.
5. Discover Campus Life Early
- Get an early introduction to campus resources, academic support, and UMHB traditions.
- Enjoy fun social events like game nights, movie nights, and field trips.
