Welcome
Welcome to the Master of Science in Exercise Physiology!
The School of Exercise and Sport Science, housed in the Mayborn College of Health Sciences, offers a Master of Science in Exercise Science degree that prepares students for careers in health, wellness, and fitness. Careers are often found in the performance industry, sports medicine, clinical exercise physiology, and research. Careers as teachers, professors, recreation specialists, and administration are additional opportunities that may be pursued with this degree. Graduates will be well prepared for a variety of certifications such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or the American College of Sport Medicine’s ACSM-EP (Certified Exercise Physiologist) to further their vocation. The master’s degree in Exercise Science also prepares students in pursuit of higher degrees through doctoral work, such as a Ph.D. or other professional programs.
As program director my mission is to guide students through their academic experience centered on their individual, professional and educational goals. I will personally ensure that students pursue the correct certifications to further their career, seek out the best internships connecting them to leaders in their respective field, gain hands-on experience in the Human Performance Lab and/or with other groups on campus, and conduct scholarly activities to gain experience in application and research. Our distinguished faculty, excellent classroom space, and outstanding laboratory facilitate graduate students’ learning and educational experience.
I welcome you to see what we have to offer. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at sprovenzano@umhb.edu or 254-295-5514 if you have any questions or would like to learn more about the program. I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Simone Provenzano, Ph.D., CSCS, RYT
