Welcome

On behalf of the faculty and staff from the Master of Arts in Counseling program, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the program’s website. The program offers two 60- credit hour master’s degrees with specializations in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and Marriage, Family, & Child Counseling (MFCC). Both degree tracks are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The Master of Arts in Counseling Program is a challenging program with high standards and expectations set forth by CACREP and our rigorous research-based curriculum. We firmly believe in providing an educational experience centered around personal student-faculty relationships, where the focus is on acquiring counseling knowledge and skills through didactic and experiential learning.

At the heart of our program are award-winning, nationally recognized counselor educators, who are servant leaders and driven by their faith-informed discernment.

We developed the Master of Arts in Counseling curriculum to reflect current counseling practice and prepare entry-level counseling professionals. During the course of the program, you will experience several unique learning opportunities, including inter-professional interactions and learning activities, to facilitate engagement in the profession and the community.

One of the Master of Arts in Counseling Program’s educational distinctions is the Community Life Counseling Center (CLC), housed within the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru Clinic. The CLC is a state-of-the-art clinical training facility, which provides pro bono mental health services to underserved populations in the Bell County Community. During Practicum and Internships, students will carry a caseload at the CLC and receive individual coaching and supervision with a faculty member from both live and recorded sessions. The Master of Arts in Counseling Program believes that small class sizes and individualized attention provide an environment for students to develop into strong healers and clinicians.
