Applying for Financial Aid

Students applying for financial aid will need to complete the following steps:

• The FAFSA is currently available to complete for subscriptions periods between June 2020 and May 2021. Use school code 003588.
  • Funding options may include Pell Grant and Direct Loan Subsidized/Unsubsidized loan eligibility, and alternative student loans.
  • Make sure to create a FSA ID and password at FSA ID. (If you are a dependent student at least one parent will need a FSA ID.)
  • The FSA ID will be used for both the FAFSA and loan documents.
  • UMHB will receive your FAFSA results within 5 business days from the Department of Education.
• Financial Aid Awards: The Financial Aid Office will calculate an award package and notify the student via email within a few days after receiving the FAFSA.
• The UMHB Financial Aid Office will follow up with an email asking for other forms and documentation that may be required in order to verify the information you provided on the FAFSA.
• If you are applying for VA benefits or Tuition Assistance, contact our Military Services and Certification Coordinator at military@umhb.edu or (254) 295-4236.

Financial Aid Timeline

Monthly subscription periods begin on the 15th of each month.

• Apply to CBE at UMHB.
• Keep in contact with the MyWay Admissions Office regarding your admissions file.
• After applying to MyWay at UMHB, complete and submit the FAFSA.
• In order for UMHB to process your aid in timely fashion, the following timeframe must be met.
  • UMHB should receive your FAFSA by the 1st day of the month you plan to enroll.
    (For example, if you plan to start on June 15th we must have your FAFSA by June 1st).
  • One week prior to classes starting accept awards and submit any additional forms that are requested to determine eligibility.
  • One week prior to classes starting complete the Entrance Loan Counseling and Master Promissory Note.
