Tutoring Services
The CAE is a level one and level two certified tutoring program through the College Reading and Learning Association's International Tutor Training Program.
Tutored CoursesOn-campus Tutoring
Free peer tutoring is available on-campus to all undergraduate students during the Fall and Spring semesters. Our tutors have been faculty recommended, hand selected, and trained to the standards of the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) ensuring that they are qualified and equipped to support our students.

Online Tutoring
If the CAE does not have a tutor available in a particular course, UMHB does offer another option. You can connect with an expert online tutor through tutor.com. Tutor.com is an online resource available 24/7 to all undergraduate and graduate students. Writing help is also available through tutor.com for all subjects, including graduate-level courses. How Can Tutoring Benefit You
While working with a tutor you can clarify concepts, check and confirm understanding of lecture notes, get help with confusing homework, review notes and reading, discuss ideas, and prep for tests. Our goal is to help you become a better student.
You can use the Navigate Student app to schedule an appointment.
Come Prepared
The tutor’s goals is to help you gain a deeper knowledge of your subject and become an independent learner. The best way for this to happen is for you to come to your tutoring appointment prepared.
What Does Being Prepared Look Like?
- Arrive on time.
- Bring your textbook, notes, homework, and devices. The tutor will not do your homework for you, so complete as much as you can before your appointment. Your tutor will start with what you know and then help you think through the topics you don’t yet understand.
- Come ready to ask questions.
