Science Education Resources Center Host Its First Science Saturday

Belton, Texas - A "Science Saturday" for elementary and middle school children is planned at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, November 14.The UMHB Science Education Resource Center (SERC) will host a fun filled "Science Saturday" for elementary and middle school age children in the York Science Center from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Students will get a chance to perform "hands on" science activities at various stations including biology, chemistry, physics, robotics (Computer Science) and psychology. A few of these activities include: "Making Lightning-The Wimshurst Machine", "It's not easy being green: Plant Biology", "Why we wash our hands", "Herding Cats", "Voice-controlled Robots", "Liquids to Solids and Back to Liquids Again", "Magic Sand", "Mind-bending Optical Illusions" and "Psychology Myths Busted."
The price of admission is $5.00 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Parking is available on the south side of the York Science Center and the building should be entered through the main door on 9th Street where registration will be conducted. All events will take place on the 1st floor of the York Science Center.
